MR. JAKE EPELLE AT THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY


 Mr. Jake Epelle of The Albinism Foundation presented a Memorandum at the Public Hearing on the Proposed Bill for the Act to Establish the Sustainable Development Fund, on 29th June, 2021 at the National Assembly.

In the introduction, Mr. Epelle expressed his honor to be there and to present the Memorandum before the honorable Committee on Sustainable Development Goals. He stated the Organizational focus of the Albino Foundation which includes; (Disability Inclusion, Economic Empowerment, Albinism Rights, Healthcare, Legislation & Policy Advocacy, Learning & Education, etc.), which capture the several facets of the SDGs, particularly goals 1, 3, 4, 8, 10, 16, & 17.

In summary, Mr. Epelle mentioned that the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were conceived and adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a call to decisively end poverty, discrimination, inequalities, and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity. Hence, the Memorandum’s reflection of the overarching interest of all especially Persons with Disabilities who constitute a significant percentage of our teeming population.

However, Mr. Epelle expressed his optimism that the humble submissions in the Memorandum will be received by the honorable Committee so as to mitigate the living conditions of the community.
